Parish History

After meeting together starting in 1993, All Saints Orthodox Church of Salina was founded in 1994 by a vibrant group of faithful followers of Christ from an area Episcopal church who were seeking the fullness of the apostolic faith under the pastoral guidance of Fr. Chad Hatfield and Fr. Thomas Neustrom.

In the Fall of 2017 our dear pastor of 14 years, Fr. Daniel Griffith (Hieromonk David), relocated to St. Tikhon's Monastery in South Canaan, Pennsylvania.

After this transition, with Bishop Basil's blessing, Fr. Isaac Farha of Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Christian Church in Hillsboro, Kansas, graciously agreed to serve as our interim pastor, two weekends per month, while continuing to serve his primary parish the other Sundays each month. Meanwhile, Fr. Joseph Longofono of Topeka, Kansas, stepped in as presiding priest of our parish council.

Following the passing of Fr. Isaac's dear wife, Khouria Anastasia Farha, on Nov. 1, 2019, Fr. Isaac was excused by Bishop Basil of his pastoral duties at All Saints Orthodox Church to focus on his four children and the Holy Transfiguration parish in Hillsboro, KS.

At that time, Fr. Joseph Longofono of Topeka, KS, agreed to serve the All Saints parish for Divine Liturgy once every month or two, and also for occasional special services.

Sept. 20, 2020, marked Fr. Isaac's final Sunday in the Orthodox priesthood, following his requesting and receiving official permission from His Eminence Metropolitan Joseph, to be laicized and restored to the laity for the sake of his family. He is now Mr. Isaac Farha.

Our thanks and overwhelming gratitude for his dedicated service to the All Saints and Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Christian parishes.

FATHER DANIEL GRIFFITH - MEMORY ETERNAL

On Sunday, May 31, 2020, Hieromonk David (Fr. Daniel) fell asleep in Christ in hospital that morning at 9:20 a.m. Eastern at the age of 74 years. "O Lord Jesus Christ, grant rest to the soul of Thy departed servant, the Hieromonk David."

VIDEO OF FUNERAL AND BURIAL: On Wednesday, June 3, 2020, we received in an email from Fr. Archimandrite Sergius, the Abbot of St. Tikhon's Monastery, three links to videos of that day's funeral service and burial (INCLUDED BELOW) of now named Archimandrite David (formerly Fr. Daniel) Griffith. This high honorary title of Archimandrite (literally, "chief of a sheepfold") is given to a celibate monastic priest as a mark of respect or gratitude for service to the Orthodox Church.

Our family-friendly parish is currently guided by our presiding priest and spiritual father, Fr. Elias Boulos of St. Basil the Great Orthodox Christian Church in Kansas City, Kansas. Father Elias Boulos, presiding priest of St. Basil the Great Orthodox Church of Kansas City, Kansas, was appointed Dean of the Kansas Deanery by His Grace Bishop Basil Essey, before the Bishop retired in October 2022. In this position, he is now also our spiritual father and presiding priest over All Saints Orthodox Church as well as continuing his pastoral duties at St. Basil of Kansas City, Kansas. He intends to be with us once per month to serve Great Vespers and Orthros-Divine Liturgy., and will arrange for other priests to come to All Saints to serve Orthros-Divine Liturgy.

Nearly 30 years later, our parish family continues to serve as the spiritual home for Orthodox Christians from Salina and the surrounding area, and communities up to two or more hours drive away.

We are under the authority of the Diocese of Wichita and Mid-America in the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America.
